We're currently looking for you to join our growing group of volunteer Community First Responders (CFRs) here in Askeaton and the surrounding towns and villages!

We're volunteers that are trained to attend certain types of emergency calls around Askeaton and Ballysteen, Rathkeale, Ardagh, Shanagolden & Foynes. Our goal is to reach a potentially life threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before the ambulance crew arrives.

It's our job to help monitor, stabilise and provide the appropriate care including CPR & defibrillation, until more highly skilled ambulance crew arrives on scene to take over the treatment.

In order for Community First Responders to become active responding to emergency incidents on behalf of the National Ambulance Service there's a number of basic requirements.

All Responders must:

  • Have a can do and positive attitude towards helping your community
  • Be over 18 years of age
  • Be of good character and willing to learn.
  • Have access to a fully insured vehicle ( and licensed to drive it ) or transport enabling you to reach the patient within the assigned time & radius.
  • NO medical experience is necessary as all training will be provided by your scheme!
  • Obtain Garda Vetting ( by your Scheme coordinator)

These requirements are mandatory for a response role, but we've a variety of alternative volunteer positions including training, administration and fundraising.

Take a minute to answer the questions below and we'll get in touch shortly!
